How do I create a clone video?
- Place your phone on a tripod or stable surface.
- Record your first take (stand on one side of the frame).
- Record your second take (move to a different spot, don't move the phone).
- Paint on screen to reveal where your clone from Take 2 appears.
- Export and save to your camera roll.
Because the camera stays still, the two recordings blend seamlessly. You control exactly what shows from each take by painting a mask with your finger.
Why do I need a tripod or stable surface?
The clone effect works by layering two recordings on top of each other. If the camera moves between takes, the backgrounds won't line up and the illusion breaks. Any stable surface works: a shelf, a stack of books, or leaning your phone against something sturdy.
Can my two clones touch or overlap?
No. The mask is a painted boundary that reveals one take over the other. If the two versions of you occupy the same spot, there's no way to draw a clean mask through the overlap. Keep clear space between your two positions for the best results.
What does the dotted circle brush do?
The dotted circle brush paints at very low opacity, letting you gradually fade the transition between your two takes. Use it along the seam between clones to soften hard edges, blend shadows, or smooth anywhere the cut looks unnatural. Build up the effect with multiple strokes.
Can I undo my painting?
Yes. Tap the undo button to remove your last brush stroke. You can also switch to the eraser to remove parts of the mask manually.
Where are my exported videos saved?
Exported videos are saved directly to your phone's photo library (Camera Roll on iOS, Gallery on Android). You can find them in your Photos app right after exporting.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Double You processes everything on your device. No internet connection is needed to record, edit, or export your videos.
Does the app use AI or upload my videos?
No. Double You does not use AI and does not upload your videos anywhere. All processing happens locally on your phone. Your videos never leave your device unless you choose to share them yourself.
Why does the app need camera, microphone, and photo permissions?
Camera is needed to record your video takes. Microphone captures audio during recording. Photo library access lets the app save your finished clone video to your camera roll. The app only uses these permissions for their stated purpose.
